The International conventions and National laws of most countries require those who transport petroleum (and petroleum products) ensure that the resources necessary to respond to a worst case scenario (discharge) to the maximum extent practicable. This is normally achieved through the application of the Internationally recognised tiered response system (or a similar system adopted by the country.)

IEMS offers response capabilities intended to help satisfy the following response planning requirements (in accordance to the Tiered response system). Operational discharge, worst case discharge, shallow water response capability, shoreline protection and clean-up, on land response and clean-up and dispersants.

IEMS was originally formed in September 2012 as a commercial Oil Spill Removal Organization (OSRO). The founders of IEMS were Environmental and Marine experts from the United Kingdom and the wider Middle East. During the first years of service IEMS offered response services directly to the petroleum and maritime sector, this included service providers who were involved in the handling and transportation of oil and other substances.

The company specialises in planning, providing and installing custom contingency equipment packages. We also provide oil spill deflection and protection systems.

Clients include International oil companies (OIC) and National oil companies (NOC), Government agencies and various other organizations involved in the handling and transportation of oil (and other substances). This also includes those that can be affected by the release of oil and other substances.
